Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth With This Dutch Oven S'mores Bake

S’mores are one of the staples of camp food - the thought of gooey marshmallows and melty chocolate on a graham cracker brings out the kid in all of us. While the pastime of roasting s’mores is a classic camp activity, why not put a twist on the traditional? We’re switching up the campfire s’mores experience with a sharable Dutch Oven S’mores Dip that will feed your camp crew, no roasting sticks required. Just grab your graham cracker and dig in!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 Bags Marshmallows
  • 2 16oz bags milk chocolate chips
  • 1 box graham crackers
  • 6 large strawberries, sliced (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Prepare your coals: in a fire pit, start a campfire and wait for coals to burn down and smoulder - or light approximately 20 charcoal briquettes until hot and glowing.

  2. Fill the bottom of a 12” Dutch Oven with the chocolate chips, then add marshmallows on top of the chocolate. If desired, line the oven with parchment paper before this step for easy cleanup.

  3. Arrange approximately ⅔ of the hot coals in a circle; place dutch oven over the top of the coals. Scoop the rest of the hot coals onto the dutch oven lid to heat the oven. DO NOT place dutch oven directly over flames.

  4. Let the oven heat up for around 8-10 minutes. Use a lid lifter to carefully check on your s’mores bake as it cooks. When the marshmallows begin to soften, add sliced strawberries on top of the melty marshmallows (this step is optional for the s’mores purists out there).

  5. Once marshmallow tops are golden brown, use lid lifter to remove oven from heat. Let cool slightly, then grab your graham crackers and your friends and start dipping!

Of all the camp dutch oven desserts, this one might be the simplest - and perhaps the most delicious. What are you waiting for, it’s s’mores time!
