Power Your Next Adventure With Peanut Butter

Protein-rich, tasty, and uber spreadable - peanut butter has been the choice of kiddos and athletes alike for generations. Rich in good fats, sugar, and protein, PB (or an alternative) can fuel an active lifestyle and is perfect for long days on the trail or on the water. Add some energy to your next trip with one of these peanutty camp recipes.

PEANUT BUTTER PANCAKES

Grab a Gourmet Griddle and your camp stove and get ready for some heavenly protein-packed pancakes.

First, find your favorite buttermilk pancake mix (it’s camping, after all, who has time for anything else?). Whip up 1 cup of pancake mix into a batter according to package instructions. Add ¼ cup peanut butter to the batter and mix until most of the lumps are gone. Adjust by adding more water or more peanut butter to get desired texture. Scoop a spoonful of batter onto a Griddle heated over a two-burner stove. Cook until golden brown on each size. Top with syrup, chopped nuts, berries, or more peanut butter. Makes 10 pancakes.

PB&B SMOOTHIE

If a pancake camp breakfast isn’t your style, try this protein-packed smoothie. No electricity? No problem - grind this smoothie up with the Vortex blender.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup Greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup milk of your choice
  • ⅓ cup peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp chocolate syrup
  • 2 frozen bananas (cut into slices and freeze the night before)

Add all ingredients to the smoothie and blend. If mixture is too thick, add more milk to thin the smoothie. Forgo the disposable straw and sip from a pint glass or Microlite for a morning powerup. Serves 1.
